Handmade pottery and pottery classes by a mud enthusiast, Barb Crosbie. I am a dual degree water quality science major with a serious passion for clay. When my life took me to Utah, then New York, back to Utah , to Alabama and now back to Utah, the clay stuck. Along this journey I have worked, studied and taught classes in pottery. As a potter and teacher I divide my time and work through new ideas systematically, I guess it is the scientist in me.

I am a potter, a mess maker, a biologist and steward of the earth. Earth in Art is a true representation of me. I take what I see in nature, wherever I may live or travel, and duplicate it, with an added twist or an embellishment. I enjoy the challenge of taking a moment in time, a carefully noted observation or the deconstruction of an environment and recreating it in clay.
My art incorporates elements from my natural surroundings; leaves, rocks, tree bark, a fallen wasp nest, shells, and more. On my hikes I love to collect wood and stones to use in the pieces I assemble. Lace doilies made by the hands of the mother, grandmothers and aunts who have influenced my life often are impressed . It makes me smile to see their work incorporated, I hope you share in my joy.
I am a teaching artist with 10+ years of experience who thrives through connecting people with clay. Come take pottery classes with me and experience the difference a small class can offer.
I believe that art is developed through time and practice. The pieces I create and share with the world are reflective of my keen interest and observation of the natural world. They are recreations of nature which have been influenced by my perspective.
Each piece I sell is crafted by my hands, whether it be created on the wheel or built by hand at the table.
